It was established as Mymensingh Medical College on 1 June 1962 at Mymensingh, which later shifted to its current campus on 5 October 1972. On 1 December 1988 it was renamed Central Women’s Medical College and again changed its name to Central Medical College on 14 February 1992.

For general admission to any degree program of CMU, there is a minimum GPA requirement. That is 3.00/4.00 for both SSC and HSC with no subject grade below C level from recognized institutions from Bangladesh or abroad. Also, there is a minimum CGPA requirement which varies depending upon your educational background (if you are an international student). Apart from CGPA requirements, if you have to apply for Undergraduate degrees of our institute, you have to have at least 5 years’ education in related fields with bachelor’s degree in one of those fields.
